Leadership
Bishop
Ernest Owens is the Pastor of First Pentecost Assemblies International
Church and is an ordained and licensed minister of the Gospel of Jesus
the Christ. A powerful and dynamic speaker with a passion for God, Bishop
Owens teaches and delivers God’s word in a way that deeply penetrates
the heart and touches the spirit.
Committed to his divine calling, Bishop Owens became Pastor of First Pentecost
Missionary Baptist Church in 1992. His leadership has yielded significant
increase for both the church ministry and the surrounding community. With
the church nestled in a small storefront location in Chicago’s Englewood
neighborhood, membership quickly increased as the community became aware
of this passionate and energetic church leader. As a result of this dramatic
growth, in November of 1999, First Pentecost Missionary Baptist Church
moved from its Chicago location to the present location in Harvey, Illinois.
Always a man of vision who chooses to walk in obedience to God, Bishop
Owens renamed the church ministry, First Pentecost Assemblies International
Church. The name change is evidence of the greater works ahead for this
dynamic ministry where our vision is to educate, feed, heal, and save
souls, around the world, for the Kingdom of God.
Bishop Ernest Owens attended Moody Bible Institute of Chicago, and the
Chicago Baptist Institute. A married father of three, he presently serves
as First Presiding Prelate of the Shepherd’s Heart Fellowship, President
and CEO of Newbirth Community Development Corporation, and in February
of 2005, was sworn in as Chaplain for the City of Harvey.
He was consecrated to the sacred office of Bishop in May of 2005.
